>CSN Stores: KidKraft Step N' Store Pink Stool Review and Giveaway

>

My 2 1/2 year old daughter has suddenly become Ms. Independent. She can do everything herself, well at least she likes to think she can. Of course as a mom I encourage her and let her believe that she could unless she is putting herself in danger.
So a few months ago we bought her a twin bed. She loves her bed but has not been able to climb in it herself. I knew she would be excited about getting a step stool. Therefore, when was given the opportunity from CSN Stores to review one of their items, I chose to review the KidKraft Step N' Store Pink Stool.

CSN Stores has over 200 stores. They have everything from tv stands & racks and stands to cookware and childrens furniture. You can check out all of their stores ~ just click here.

The KidKraft Step N' Store Pink Stool was delivered very quickly in a box which it had to be assembled. I thought I would have to assemble it myself because my husband is no Handy Manny. However, surprisingly he build all by himself AND did it correctly.

Once it was built my daughter was so excited that the first thing she did was put books into the little storage part. Then she wanted to go to bed. I am not complaining about that. She was very enthusiastic to go to bed because now she was able to get into the bed by herself. Getting this stool has given her a lot of confidence, now everything she does she says "I do it myself." she climbs into her booster seat alone and even climbs into her car seat alone. I feel that the stool has given her an independence and confidence that she did not have before.

Pro's :

- The stool is pink ~ and pink is my daughters favorite color.

- It is very strong and sturdy. I have it on a regular floor and it doesn't slide or slip once my daughter climbs onto it.

- The storage space is enough to put some books in ~ then the stool can also be used to sit down and read on.

- The part where the storage space opens up has hinges on it to protect your child from squeezing their fingers in it.

>UV Skinz Review and Giveaway

>

In case you did not know - May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month. Rhonda at UV Skinz has given me an awesome opportunity to review UV Skinz and host a giveaway.

About UV Skinz:
UV Skinz is one of the original companies to design and manufacture protective sun wear. The company was founded by Rhonda Sparks, a mom of three in 2005 after losing her 32 year old husband to melenoma. During the month of May UV Skinz has a campaign called "Save a Baby's Skin." When you place an order during the month of May. UV Skinz will send you free UV Baby Skinz shorts along with a flyer asking that you pass it along to an organization or neighbor in need. UV Skinz has had this program for the last three years to raise awareness and ensure that all babies and children are given the proper protection against skin cancer.

UV Skinz carries a line of UV protective clothing which includes: Kids UV swim shirts & shorts, Adult UV Swim shirts & Shorts, UV Sun hats and other UV accessories.

After hearing Rhonda Sparks story and learning about the company I was left in total awe. She is absolutely amazing and I am sure her husband is extremely proud of her.

I received the following items to review:

I really enjoyed being given the opportunity to review UV Skinz. Growing up I basically wore a one piece bathing suit or a bikini. It was usually my moms choice of what bathing suit was on sale. The past couple of years for the few times my daughter did wear a bathing suit I would put her in the same, either a one piece or two piece. We would glob on sunblock. However, after receiving this bathing suit for review my mind ~ and my husbands mind has changed. It is worth it to invest in a good bathing suite with UV protection for her. More protection will always be better than less.

Another thing that I like about it is a light material it covers up your child. During the summer, we like to bring her to the park to run around in the sprinkler. You don't know what crazy people are out there. You just hear so many stories. So on the beach or in public I like the idea of this bathing suit much better than the traditional one piece. I think it protects your child in more ways than just UV protection. I mean, seriously, you don't know who is looking out their window.

I loved the product and would recommend it to other parents.

>Tooth Fairy DVD ~ Review and Giveaway (2 Winners!)

>

I was recently given the opportunity to review the Tooth Fairy Movie which comes out on DVD & Blu-ray May 4th. Overall, I would say the movie was cute and fluffy but I feel like I have seen it before.

ToothFairy It is a lot like the movie Santa Claus. It teaches kids that some things are magical and to believe. It teaches adults to let kids be kids and not ruin their dreams and beliefs. It also teaches adults that it is okay to dream a little. I think the the message in the Tooth Fairy (and Santa Claus) are great for kids. It shows them that adults don't always know everything.

Synopsis:

In the spirit of The Game Plan and The Pacifier comes a funny “fish out of water comedy” perfect for the entire family. Hilarious and wholesome, Tooth Fairt arrives onBlu-ray Disc/DVD Triple Play and DVD May 4 from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment. Dwayne Johnson (The Game Plan) stars as Derek Thompson, a hard-charging minor league hockey player whose nickname comes from his ability to knock out other players’ teeth. After discouraging a youngster’s hopes, he is ordered to one week’s hard labor as the real Tooth Fairy, complete with the requisite tutu, wings and magic wand. At first he “can’t handle the tooth,” but eventually learns how to adapt to his new position and finds himself rediscovering his own forgotten dreams.

This Giveaway is open to US only. The contest will end May 21, 2010. Two winners will be chosen, they will have 72 hours to reply to my email. Otherwise a new winner will be chosen.

>Mama Never Told Me by Emily Van Do ~ Book Review and Giveaway

>Mama Never Told Me - By Emily Van Do

I would like to start this review with quoting the first page of the book:

"Suddenly people (mostly coworkers, strangers) decide they have free reign in commenting on your appearance. They have no issues touching your belly or pointing out the unavoidable and beautiful transformation your body endures wile pregnant. If you appear annoyed then you are being hormonal. You are forced to laugh and bear it"

Being 34 weeks pregnant now ~ that is what grabbed my attention. Oh boy, the truth to it and how much it relates to myself as a pregnant woman was kind of a relief. Its nice to know your not the only one that gets comments thrown at them, especially in the work environment, which is completely inappropriate.

I enjoyed the book. I thought it was comical and true. My husband thought that she repeated herself a lot in the book. I agree that she did. However, the truth of pregnancy it does feel like you hear the same comments over and over.

Here are a couple things that I have heard that Emily Van Do may want to include in her next book:

So all this to get to asking for an envelope:

John: so how are you feeling Cindy?

Me: I am good.

John: so how much longer until the baby comes?

me: about 2 months.

John: oh, your getting big... (with his hands gestured a big stomach).. are you sure its not twins

me: yea, i am sure

John: oh cause your big

me: mmmm...

John: do you have a blank envelope.

me: yea, here..

This type of situation happens maybe once a week. Once he said "Your getting big, you must be eating a lot now huh?" My response: "I am pregnant!"

Just yesterday I was told by this guy Tom I work with that I am getting fat. I said "really - where have you been the last 8 months? Do you realize that I am pregnant?" He says "yea, I am just saying, it looks like there is a basketball under your shirt". Then I said "wow you are very observant".

It gets annoying hearing comments. Then there is always the after pregnancy comments. If you loose the weight or you don't everyone has a comment on your figure.

I would recommend this book as a gift to a friend that is pregnant. It's a cute baby shower gift. It is even a nice gift for yourself if you are pregnant. Its comforting to know that someone else has heard the same comments that you have during their pregnancy. It makes you feel like your not a big fat blimp, and people just don't know how to bite their tongue.

Where to Purchase: You can purchase your own copy at Amazon.com or Destination Maternity

Emily Van Do has offered one copy to one of my readers.

Enter to win your own copy of Mama Never Told Me by Emily Van Do. The giveaway will end May 18, 2010. The winner will be contacted by email and have 72 hours to reply, otherwise a new winner will be chosen.

>Earth Day Giveaway #3: tiny ducky Review and $40 Gift Card Giveaway

>

I recently came across a eco-friendly organic clothing line called tiny ducky. Tiny Ducky uses 100 percent SKAL-certified organic cotton from India. They gave me the opportunity to review their newborn gift basket and an additional blanket with a beanie. tiny ducky also offered a $40 gift card to one of my readers.

I was extremely excited to share this review and giveaway with my readers because Earth Day is just a couple of days away and because my baby is on the way. My due date is just 50 days away. Yep... I have been counting down.

The newborn gift basket included a onesie, a blanket, a beanie and a newborn pacifier. The material was extremely soft. They also have the logo of tiny ducky on it, which I find very adorable for baby clothes. The price of it is $40. This would make an awesome baby shower gift. Trust me, I know I would love to have this as a gift. There is a variety or colors and is available in sizes preemie through 3-6 months.

The beanies that they have come in 2 different styles - one know, or two knots, they cost $10 each. They sent me one of each style. I like the 2 knot beanie better. you can either leave the two sides un-knotted, knot each side, or knot the both sides together. As I mentioned in one of my previous posts about tiny ducky, they have a special earth day promotion going on, $10 off any purchase. Being that the beanies cost just $10, all you would have to do is pay the shipping fees. Just enter Earthday2010 at checkout. The blankets are so soft and tagless. They are perfect for a newborn baby.

Everyone expects organic clothing to be more expensive, but I think tiny ducky is reasonable when it comes to pricing. The quality of the products is money well spent.

About Tiny Ducky (from tinyducky.com)

Tiny Ducky, a line of 100 percent certified-organic cotton clothing for babies and toddlers, was conceived by a mom soon after the arrival of her son. A frustratingly small selection of soft, eco-friendly baby attire (particularly for a baby boy) prompted her to begin designing colorful and subtly stylish baby apparel with a green conscience. “Being a new mom made me think of how things like laundry detergent and clothing dyes affected both my son and the world as a whole,” she says. It wasn’t long before Tiny Ducky was born—simple, stylish and ultra-comfortable baby wear created with respect for the environment from start to finish.

Tiny Ducky clothing is made eco-consciously in India from 100 percent SKAL-certified organic cotton — the most rigorous organic certification on the planet. Our adorable hats, tops, bottoms, zip hoodies, blankets and onesies are available in thirteen vibrant, non-impact AZO-free colors which maintain softness, color, and shape wash after wash. A portion of Tiny Ducky’s profits are donated to 1% For The Planet and WCFS. Feel free to use our Website as a resource in developing your own eco-consciousness. Thank you for caring. We care too.

Supergoop SPF Lotion Review:
Summers on its way, and sunblock is a necessity not an accessory. Supergoop is a SPF 30 eco-friendly sunscreen. This is the first time this year that we have put sunblock on, we had a few really nice days. My daughter Samantha, 2 1/2 was always sensitive to other sunblock (especially aveeno.) Her face would get all puffy. We would have to give her benedryl on occasions because of it. Of course I was nervous to try the Supergoop on her, but I did. I think it is because of the ingredients, she didn't have any reaction to it. It is great for sensitive skin. Also, it did not leave her skin feeling greasy like other sunblocks do.

>Alvin and The Chipmunks : The Squeakquel Review and Giveaway

>
I watched the first Alvin and The Chipmunks with my daughter on regular TV. She absolutely loved it. Once she started seeing the commercials for Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel she would imitate Dave calling "Alllvinnnnnn" and constantly say "how 'bout we watch that?"

As many of you know, going to the movies is far from cheap. I wanted to make sure that if we went she would sit through the entire movie and that we would all enjoy it. Well, I read some reviews and it made me not want to see the movie in the theater.

I was given the opportunity to review the movie, and being my daughter has been wanting to see it, I was very excited. We popped in the movie and she sat through the entire movie. So did my husband and I. I thought the premise of the movie was cute and then there was a nice lesson taught- Family sticks together. Honestly, I really liked the movie and I know my daughter did too. The Chipmunks were as adorable as they have always been. The Chipettes were super cute too. The music was great. It is a fun family movie.

Synopsis:

When a concert mishap lands Dave in the hospital, the Chipmunks take a break from superstardom and enroll in school to fit in with kids their age.But they soon face some stiff competition when they meet the Chipettes — a beautiful, talented trio of chipmunks discovered by Ian, the boys’ evil ex-manager!

Enter to Win!

Here is your chance to win one of three "Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Squeakquel" DVD's
